Betrug bzw. versuchter Betrug zum Nachteil von Rechtsanwälten – Sophia Mason – Lawyer Scam

Auch 2018 werden solche scam-e-mails noch verschickt, obwohl man meinen sollte, die Masche hätte sich erledigt. So erreichte Rechtsanwalt Pieconka wieder einmal ein e-mail mit folgendem Text:

This is an official request for your legal consultation services. My name is Sophia Mason, and I am in needs of a legal representation from your law firm regarding a breach of Loan agreement I had with a friend of mine. He needed this loan to complete an ongoing project he was handling at the time in your jurisdiction. I need legal advice and assistance to know the best way to handle this issue. If this is your area of practice, please contact me to provide you with further Information.

I am most inclined to commence talks as soon as possible. Your consideration of my request is highly anticipated, and I look forward to your prompt response.

Ziel dahinter ist, den Anwalt zur Annahme und Einlösung von Schecks zu bewegen, die dann der angebliche Schuldner schickt. Diese werden platzen und wenn dann das Geld schon weitergeleitet wurde, hat der Anwalt ein Problem … Wenn auch die Einlösung von Schecks in US $ ohnehin schon teuer ist, sei dringend davor gewarnt, entsprechende Mandate anzunehmen.
